Artist Statement

Healing is an intimate, sometimes circuitous pursuit with no end destination. It’s a life-long journey that pushes pieces of oneself to the forefront to confront life’s deepest fears, secrets, and pains on the way to victorious epiphanies or understandings.

My poetic writing seeks to highlight the stops along this voyage: recognition, rage, pain, empathy, love, joy and more spurred by spending time in nature, or ecotherapy, experiencing new cultures and food through travel and the consumption of art. Running long paths through woods both near and far, practicing yoga on sandy shores, or planting new gardens have made space for the cultivation of forgiveness and the birth of new, literary art.

Bio

Jacquinn Sinclair is a Boston-area-based poet. Jacquinn’s poems have been published in the South Florida Poetry Journal, anthologized in the International Women’s Writing Guild’s “Heels Into The Soil: Stories & Poems Resisting The Silence,” and more recently, “How We Take Up Space: Memories, Stories and Poems on Spatial Justice.” She is a 2024-2025 Live Arts Boston Grant Winner, a 2024 City of Boston and Fine Arts Work Center Poetry Scholarship Recipient, a 2023-2024 GrubStreet Teaching Fellow, and a 2023 Dunamis Boston Emerging Artist Fellow. Jacquinn's writing has appeared in various books and publications, including: “New Jersey Fan Club: Artists And Writers Celebrate The Garden State,” The Boston Globe, Boston Art Review, Momentum, Lonely Planet, and American Theatre Magazine among others.
